Mercury was named after the greek god Hermes. But in Roman mythology Mercury's name is commerce. You would weigh 47 lbs less on Mercury than you do on Earth. Mercury is often referred to as ''the morning star''. The reason why Mercury is so heavy is because it is mainly made out of iron. Mercury is also the second most dense planet in the solar system. Mercury's surface is so hard and thick that no volcano can get through it. Mercury has been visited by Mariner 10 and Messenger. Galileo's telescope was too small to view Mercury's phases. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Mercury has become tidally locked to the sun. Mercury is just textures of gray, but it is really silver.
